The Study Ball – Finish your homework before going to play

Casio High Speed Exilim EX-FC100/ EX-FS10 compact digital cameras can shoot video at 1,000fps

Casio Japan announced the launch of High Speed Exilim EX-FC100/ EX-FS10 compact digital cameras that can continuously take pictures at a speed of 30 shots per second and shoot video at 1,000fps. Casio High Speed 9.1 Mpixels Exilim EX-FC100 and High Speed Exilim EX-FS10 have basically same spec except optical and battery life functionality. Model Exilim EX-FC100 with 2.7”TFT LCD comes with 5x optical zoom (37-185mm), while Exilim EX-FS10 with 2.5” TFT LCD comes with 3x internal optical zoom (38-114mm). The battery in the FC100 lasts for approximately 300 shots, while that in the FS10 lasts for approximately 160 shots. While shooting, Slow Motion View allows users to extract still photos from video displayed in slow motion. Furthermore, Casio provided a dedicated button for Slow Motion View in order to improve the operability.

The Casio EX-FC100 and the EX-FS10 features a new function called Ichioshi (most recommended) shot. The Casio EX-FC100 weighs 145g and EX-FS10 119g. Both camera with 32MB built in internal memory are compatible with SD/SDHC cards. Both the cameras will be launched in Japan first by Feb end.

Eyeclock Is Googly All the Time

Here’s the description for the Eyeclock from designer Mike Mak: “Eyeclock is a pleasuring clock which gives pleasure while telling you time.” Not sure “pleasure” is the right word. Judging from the photos, it seems the right eye continually circles around as the minutes tick by, while the right eye swirls a bit slower to count off the hours. Tap Radio is a Radio Shaped Like a Tap

The Tap Radio is a splash proof FM radio that looks like a water tap. You turn the handle to control the volume. The radio attaches to your wall via two suction cups in the rear. The spout functions as the speaker. According to the product description “it won’t look out of place in your bathroom”; except for the fact that you’d have a weird plastic tap sticking out of the middle of your wall that doesn’t look anything like the rest of your normal taps. Portable Anti Burglar Alarm

On a backpacking trip across one of the dicier parts of Southeast Asia, I worried about being robbed; every other traveller I talked to had had something stolen from them, often while they were sleeping. So every night before going to sleep in my rented rooms, I spent ten minutes constructing a precariously balanced pyramid of empty beer bottles in front of the door, an improvised burglar alarm I hoped a thief would noisily topple upon entering.

I sure wish I'd had one of these, a Wedge Alarm. The diminutive device is easy to pack, fits under a door and lets out a shrieking alarm when tripped. Beats having to finish three to five beers before bedtime just to build a security system.

Advanced Universal Remote - Logitech Harmony 1100

The new Logitech Harmony 1100 universal remote is an upgrade to the 1000 model, and features a 3.5 inch color touch screen that’s complimented with a set of soft buttons on the sides, and dedicated volume and channel buttons to the right. Now these buttons technically duplicate functionality already found on the touch screen, but I like the fact that you can adjust the volume and change the channel without having to look away from the screen.

And like with all the Logitech Harmony models, programming the 1100 to replace up to 15 different remotes is easy thanks to their guided online setup that currently supports more than 225,000 devices from over 5,000 brands. But if things get too complicated, the UI on the large touch screen can also be re-configured to show only the commands you want to see, even to the point of choosing a custom icon for each one. Now that large display does raise the issue of battery life, but the remote comes with a docking cradle, so whenever it’s not in use or lost, the battery should be recharging.

Nokia N97 is one of the most impressive mobile phones featuring a 3.5'' touchscreen display and the full QWERTY keyboard.
