The Black version is the latest addition to Issey Miyake's TO: Automatic Collection designed by Tokujin Yoshioka. The watches are characterized by an appearance of solidity, making a strong statement with their substantial, sculpture –like designs. While continuing the concept on a watch carved from a single piece of metal, the design has been further refined.
The company Tokyoflash has just launched the Negative watch. Available in polished silver or polished black, Negative's LCD screen is always displaying the time, allowing the wearer to read it with a quick glance. What really brings this design to life is its multi color LED light guide. At the touch of a button, the display can be backlit with one of seven user selectable colors, a feature that is most impressive at night.
Infection is the name of a new watch launched by Tokyoflash. The watch impresses with an original design combining sleek curves, tri-colored LEDs and a pulsating new display. Featuring a creatively designed full face mirrored lens and an innovative way to view time, no one is immune to Infection. Housed in a smart new case, Infection is ergonomically designed to neatly fit the contours of your wrist, the tapered edges providing a smooth transition between the case and lens.
Urwerk present UR-202 - the world’s first watch with the winding rate regulated by fluid dynamics. With the UR-202, Urwerk have taken the traditional idea of using air friction and refined it to control the rate of automatic winding. The traditional rotating vanes of the past have been replaced by cutting-edge miniature twin turbines - miniature air compressors - which can be seen spinning on the back of the watch.
With the UR-103 models, Urwerk takes its 'no limits' approach to haute horlogerie ever further. Four orbiting and rotating satellites display the hours, with each satellite indicating the time in a both analogue and digital fashion as it arcs across the minute chapter. This sophisticated and groundbreaking complication is the result of years of research, development and testing. The principle technical challenge was ensuring excellent isochronal performance of the satellites while minimizing friction and loss of energy.
